Oh And...
Panic is setting in...I'm leaving tomorrow for my trip, alone with a two year old. Pray. Pray hard.
I've mentioned before that there is no reception and no Internet where I'm going. My grandmother doesn't have a computer. She doesn't even have a cordless phone. There's no cell phone reception where she lives. In fact, the area is so remote that the TV doesn't even come in right and everyone is mad that they had to switch from analog because of it. I'm bringing an air card, but there's still no guarantee, so if posting is spotty and I'm not on Facebook, well, KEEP PRAYING for me.
Wish me luck. I hate flying.
Also, I'm reading In the Shadow of the Banyan: A Novel
. It's really good. Read it. I'll tell you more about it when I have time.

Oh hell. Stupid Blogger ate my comment. ARGH!
Anyway, hang in there. You've been through much worse, and you'll survive this. Chances are being without internet or cell service will be a blessing. My thoughts are so much clearer, and ideas so much stronger, when I'm not connected to the world.
Quick question: Might you be willing to read over my half-assed manuscript? I'm at a crossroads with it and want to figure out whether 1) I just need to take some fiction writing courses so I can know WTF I'm doing, or 2) it's time to walk away and drop the whole idea.
It's been five years since I started the novel, and almost four since an experienced, in-the-know editor encouraged me to contact him once I'd completed a few chapters. I'm ready to figure out where I'm going wrong. Every time I "look" toward "the story" (or toward the "storyteller/source") in my mind, it's BLANK. Says NOTHING. Stony silence is all I get. Damn, that's depressing. So, if you have the time and desire, I'd appreciate your input. If not, just let me know. I'm teaching four classes and taking two this semester, so I know what busy is all about.
