Thanksgiving Warm-Up - Let the Nasty-Assery Begin
Do not ask me how I ran across this one, but I was doing a little pre-Thanksgiving recipe research when I found a casserole topped with Cheetos. Cheetos. A casserole topped with them and it has chopped up hard boiled eggs in it. I have relatives who would tear this mess up too. I guarantee you they would like it and not just like it, but love it.
Can you honestly imagine?

Wow, that is DISGUSTING.
Simply disgusting..
AHAHA!!! That's amazing. And disgusting! I love that you find these things.
Should be served over noodles.
This doesn't actually look half bad if you made your own cream sauce (enriched with egg) and used "gratin" instead of cheetos. I'll bet Kraft had something to do with creating this number.
Is this on your list for next year's bash in your hometown ?
Awesome. Wait, that cake with the
horse. Brilliant.
:) Happy Belated Cathi
Cooks.com has the worst recipes ever! I just found this one and thought of you. http://www.cooks.com/rec/view/0,1919,144160-255194,00.html
Can you imagine what the texture of Jello with applesauce and red hots is like?
Well, if you chop up that celery and onion fine enough, you won't even have to chew...
Perhaps if you add marshmallows . . .
What the hell are Cheetos, anyway? (and to be honest, when I first glanced at this, I thought it said Cheerios.... shudder!)
Fernando-
I've eaten that one. Quite popular with my mother in the 1980s. It's not the worst ever, but I generally refused to eat it because it is nasty. The red hots give it both a sickly sweet flavor while imparting a Ronald McDonald red color to the whole thing...
The applesauce gives it a grainy texture so it tastes like super sweet grainy Jell-o chocked full of chemically cinnamon flavor that melts on your plate and begins to dye all the other foods around it pink. It's a little like the Borg trying to assimilate everything it comes into contact with.
Wide Lawns: I have an idea... how about putting together a holiday meal menu with recipes for Thanksgiving and Christmas with the nastiest recipes? I'll volunteer mom's lime jello with cucumber and cream cheese creation. It's even worse than the red hots one. I also found a Jell-o gazpacho recently that looks horrific.
I couldn't resist. I had to make it. Looks like it sounds, and the burnt orange of the topping reminds me of carpet in an old trailer. Put an avocado-green sofa on it, and you're back in Millpond.
Add some macramé hanging speaker holders, and you're home.
Will post pics later.
Photos, if anyone's interested.

I shouldn't have looked at those photos. My stomach was gurgling away at me when I was reading the recipe but the actual photo? I feel sick...
I fully expect to encounter this (or a version thereof) at either Thanksgiving or Christmas with the family. Lordy, they'd be all over this like white on rice.
That's haute cuisine to my mom, which is why I started cooking for the family at an early age.

Oh gott I feel a little ill just reading that.
hurk hurk hurk.
Oh by the by, since none of my blogs are of the cooking variety, and I know you like cooking too, would you like/mind if I posted some cookies recipies I'm experimenting on in your blog comments about food? Or my "Gluten Free easy Pizza Bread" I need to perfect it yet, but the last one turned out pretty damn okay. Even though I got the liquid numbers off and it had the beginning consistency of pancake batter. It still turned out pretty damn okay.
Just asking, you can post a comment on my blog to reply or I'll try to remember to check back here.
