Read This
It looks like it's about to storm and I am in a wild fit of procrastination at the moment so naturally the internet offered to assist in that endeavor, as it often does. Well in a wild clicking spree I found THIS which I have decided you all must read because it cracked me up like nothing has in a long time. It's this guy, who seems like someone I could easily be related to although he isn't, and he just started taking advice columns out of the paper and answering them himself in the way they really ought to be answered. Unfortunately he just started so there are only a few entries so far and no archives. If there were archives I'd be here until the Daily Show comes on looking at them.
And while I'm at it, periodically I'll ask you all to recommend some new blogs for me to read because I get tired of the same old famous ones all the time. I need some new, fresh material. Got any suggestions for me? And no Pioneer Woman. She put peanut butter and marshmallows on a ritz cracker, stuck that shit in the oven and called that a recipe. That is not ok with me. And of course 400 people commented about how good it looked and how clever she was and what a good cook she must be to make something like that. So until the Pioneer Woman redeems herself by making a decent recipe again (and she has a couple times in the past so I know it's possible) don't you all be telling me I need to read her. Pioneer Woman is on notice. Also, if a blog has been in the paper, on CNN or has a book deal I want no part of it. I want non-famous blog suggestions so they can have a chance to be read too.

http://twistednoodle.blogspot.com
And, of course, V (but she hasn't been posting much lately)
http://www.violentacres.com/
Enjoy.
You want non-famous? I'm all over that.
http://andria-and-co.com
http://www.thefoodwhore.com always makes me smile.
Well,
www.castsugar.blogspot.com has some excellent recipies.
Crystal at boobsinjuriesanddrpepper.blogspot.com/ has her moments.
And www.crazydaysandnights.com is good for gossip.
My favorite cooking blog:
cookalmostanything.blogspot.com/
It's gorgeous, and I've made some of the recipes- they turned out lovely.
The food whore (mentioned above) is a good one too.
I'll let you know if I think of more bloggy goodness...
This rain is driving me crazy! Seems like every time there's a little thunder rumbling miles away, my Internet goes down.
Have you been by my site? I was mentioned in the Herald a couple weeks ago.... And I'm totally not famous!
My sister got me reading your blog so I will return the favor to her:
www.southernmuslimah.blogspot.com
She is very witty and observant. (I am prejudiced)
If you are bored out of your mind, I'd be honored if you took a gander at my blog:
www.floridagirl-giansnanny.blogspot.
com
Non-famous, you say? I'll send you an invite to mine (it's gone temporarily private).
Ooops, it seems like you don't have your contact e-mail posted. Well, if you want an invite let me know, my e-mail is on my profile page.
http://boobsinjuriesanddrpepper.blogspot.com = the funniest and most real around.
http://www.mommywantsvodka.com/
http://www.whiskeymarie.com/
http://certifiableprincess.blogspot.com/
These are all on my daily reader list- plus the Food Whore.
Hey there, I've a long-time feed-lurker here. Normally I'd be all over the self-promotion bandwagon but I'm afraid my poor little non-famous blog has been neglected for too long. So instead I recommend this comic-strip:
http://www.phdcomics.com/comics.php
I know you asked for blogs but if you are in grad school I'm sure you can relate :D
I have Crystal and Whiskey Marie in the links in the side over there. Whiskey Marie I am convinced is my long lost sister who is living a parallel life with me to the point where we both got jury duty on the same day. Crystal used to be much funnier. Way funnier, but then she had a serious depressive episode of some sort and has been working through that for the past few months. So she is writing really important stuff for her healing, but a lot of it is difficult for me to read because it is just plain painful but also because it brings up a lot of issues I have about what people end up putting their kids through when they have their own dramas. So while I support her healing and writing, it's just very hard for me to read anymore without just wanting to weep for her poor son and what that boy has gone through. But the good thing is that she's getting through it, that she asked his permission to write about him and that she got the help she needed. For that I think she's a great role model and I really wish her and her family well. I'm sure I'd really like her a lot in real life.
As for everyone else...I am checking out all of your blogs, some of them I already read but you might not realize it (LOVE them all) and I can't wait to read the new ones.
Any invitations to private blogs send to widelawns@gmail.com
So you want good ones that aren't famous!
I have one.
http://carriestuckmann.blogspot.com
The last two posts are deeper but most of her stuff is FUNNY! Roll on the ground and spit out your coffee funny.
My favorite blogger of all time is STANK: Musings from the Round Mound of Unprofound. His entries are pithy and short for the most part, but some are longer than others...and you could spend the rest of your evening (until The Daily Show)...and beyond...catching up.
http://checkraise.com/
I have an idea! Read ME! I'm melsmail.blogspot.com It's called The Things I've Left behind....
Mel
PS. I read you every time you post on Google Reader
read mine!
http://theroadandtheradio.blogspot.com
i'm in the process of trying to think of a new name for it but i can't think of one good enough so far.
I found your blog by way of one of the links on Heidi's list - so if you haven't read Heidi's - I highly recommend it. She is downright hilarious...
http://thatrudegirl.blogspot.com/
One of my favorites, though she's not exactly non-famous (was a contestant on the first season of America's Next Top Model, but don't hold that against her):
http://elysesewell.livejournal.com/
For some thinking... try The Last Psychiatrist...
http://thelastpsychiatrist.com/
For some laughing... try Jennsylvania

I love what you do. You're a hoot.
I really like Scribbit. http://www.scribbit.blogspot.com. Mom that lives in Alaska, so to me its automatically interesting. She also does free weekly giveaways and is just, nice. Its refreshing.
I actually just stumbled upon this one yesterday and thought it was great. Written by a very funny and cute Canadian girl:
http://greenmetropolis.wordpress.com/
I think you will appreciate her humo(u)r :)
http://barmaidblog.livejournal.com/
www.collegecallgirl.blogspot.com
www.iamgettingfat.blogspot.com
Try presentsimple.blogspot.com - she teaches English in Japan.
Also, 123 I Love You, which is at iamgettingfat.blogspot.com

He doesn't update often but is really funny.
http://iamgettingfat.blogspot.com/
This one's brand new and damned funny -
Generation Y'all
I just learned how to make a link in a comment, so I'm showing off a little. Act impressed.
These are just great you all! I think if I ever get unlazy that I might make a list of all of them in a post for everyone. Maybe. That seems monumental at the moment.
Here's one with some pretty good writing. It's not sleazy as the name may suggest.
http://sexincanada.blogspot.com/

No book deals there..all different and all on my daily read..
You can also read my blog.

Yesterday was my most popular post yet, it was about hating Bruce Springsteen..
Today is about the man who begged for 2 gallons of gas while I drove to work..he was yelling in my window..oh go read the story.
Delurking to recommend a friend's blog. I always think of her when I read about your family dinners.
http://recipesofthedamned.blogspot.com/
I've been following your posts for several months now. I really enjoy your writing.
I'll link you to mine. The five people who read it tell me I'm a good writer.
http://www.talesfromthecoast.blogspot.com
I agree with the peanut butter marshmallow recipe, sometimes I just wonder what that woman is thinking ;) BUT her recipe for cinnamon rolls is divine. my entire extended fam went nuts over them. Also, when she recently asked for new blogs to read, I put down yours. Here are some for you:
http://nomorewastedpaper.wordpress.com/
http://www.brightlondonsky.blogspot.com/
http://www.viewfromthecloud.com/
http://www.junkdrawerblog.com/
http://idothings.info/
If you would like to stop by my blog, I would be very honored.
rockygrace.blogspot.com
I can't believe I just shamelessly self-promoted like that. Sigh.
OH my gosh! That guy is hysterical! I can't wait till he writes more! It was as funny as some of the old Basura HOA stories. I'm miss those terribly by the way.
You should read my sisters. Sometimes she's funnier then me. http://sarahjenssister.blogspot.com
or mine http://gwenhyfr.blogspot.com/ (I have pretty pictures)
but you have to start with the hair post and read what all three of us wrote and commented about my hair staring with this post:
http://gwenhyfr.blogspot.com/2008/02/rehab-at-least-for-hair.html#comments
Then this:
http://rachelsmom-orsuzanne.blogspot.com/2008/02/hair-can-be-dangerous.html
Since you asked Check out my wife's blog over at
Geez you would think as a professional software developer I would know to close an anchor tag.
this is what I meant to post
Here's the thing
hey, here's another guy with the same type of humor as the guy you linked to. his posts can kind of be hit and miss, but when he's "on", there's nothing funnier blog-wise.
http://www.anonymouscoworker.com/
I am decidedly non-famous :)
http://elise.blogs.com
There are two very well written blogs that I go to regularly. One you already know about called Wide Lawns, the other is from Washington by a woman with a strange sense of humor, but a very good writer
First Nations
For interesting pictures and strange food (no coconuts though)
Blue Lotus
Gee, from all the responses I can see a whole bunch I've never been too, oh well, more hours wasted.
I already read First Nations and Elise too. I have been a fan of Anonymous Coworker for a long time.
Yay! Lots of great suggestions. I didn't even have time to post today because I've been reading everyone else.
This is SO great!! I read some great ones - your being the best proof.
http://leezer.wordpress.com/
Leezer'literate and witttttty. (She's got loads of videos up right now, but her writing is special).
http://allthingsbitter.blogspot.com/
JP is genius in pop culture satire. And he can do dialogue like NO BODY's bidness. Really, the guy's got a gift. I am tired of whining that he should write a script. I don't like recommending writing collaborations because, frankly, if someone can write, they can do it alone. But you two. Teamed. Gives me shivers.
And then loads more, but it seems like two is the proper number to recommend. :)
www.amalah.com, www.dadgonemad.com and www.missdoxie.com are all grat. Miss Doxie hasn't posted in months - but the archives are hilarious!
I think you would get a kick out of notalwaysright.com (As in, the customer is...) It's a frequently updated treasure trove of people being incredibly stupid in new and exciting ways. And it never fails to make me laugh.
if you are still bored, you could check out my blog at www.zombieswithguns.blogspot.com
I haven't posted in a while because of working tons of overtime and whatnot, but I will be back to regular posting soon. I have links to you and Whiskey and a few others.
I always enjoy your writing, and visit often!
If you like food and recipe blogs, visit groceryeats.com, lots of bad words, very funny.
I live in Puerto Vallarta and I rant and rave about that here: www.vallartaunderground.com
I also have coconut problems, high humidity and surrounded by old people.
Since I'm a freelancer, I also read the pretty funny Screw You blog at irreverentfreelancer.blogspot.com
http://hillcountryliving.blogspot.com/
A nice read and good food tips
http://www.15minutelunch.blogspot.com/
JV's blog is awesome! He's funny, smart and a great writer. Check him out.
I love this post! Your mom is so funny, I hope you remember to post her e-mails to you. What a crack up! It's easy to see where you get your great sense of humor.
oh, and check out Boobsinjuriesand drpepper.blogspot.com
Just check this:
http://gatochy.blogspot.com/
I doubt you'll enjoy the entire blog, but you might get a kick out of these two posts ;)

Like the other poster, I was going to recommend www.15minutelunch
Be sure to read back through the old stuff also because I'm telling you, his memoirs of growing up are poignant and hilarious at the same time.
In addition, he has a friend that wrote three short fiction stories. I think you would LOVE the experience. Parts might make you have nightmares and then giggle in the middle of it. Please see:

Bit late to join the list but I thought I'd add some British blogging to the list. These guys are great.
www.privatesecretdiary.com - stories of wild life in Norfolk
http://overnighteditor.typepad.com/theovernighteditor/ - he's random, difficult to read and doesn't post very often but he's a real slice of brilliance.

GolfWidow's Ministry of Silly Walks is one of my favorites.
Many of the blogs I was going to recommend have already been listed so I had to go back into my favorite's and find more.

She doesn't update very often but
when she does, she's a hoot. She travels via public city transportation (train) and is a people watcher. She just loves the crazee's she encounters.
I really like this one also.

I used to be in the restaurant business and can relate to his incredible stories and how you just can't make this stuff up.
This woman lives in England where she shacks up with her man and little girl. She is very down to earth and says it like it is.
http://yetanotherbloomingblog.blogspot.com/
Oh, you are a funny one.
I laughed out loud about your comments on the PW.
The Man is always commenting on my STANDARD LINE when I'm pissed or upset: "That is not okay," or "That is not okay with me," or "I'm not okay with that."
Any of the above will work.
Is self promotion allowed? I'm the opposite of famous and last week's big excitement was that I almost ate a fly. Party time.
http://amblus-amblus.blogspot.com/
I'm not famous, but I'm also mid break-up, so I can't promise funny. Except that my homo best friend is still a laugh riot- best of times, worst of times.

I wanted to recommend Kristen's blog to you for a long time, but she had gone private. Now that she's made her blog public again I figured I'd recommend it. She has amazing recipes, cute cats, and her posts never fail to be nice and uplifting. Her address is http://kristeninlondon.com
