Only In South Florida...
I really think that this is the only place in the entire world where one can see a Bentley pulled up in front of Ross. But then I got to thinking, maybe some people are as rich as they are because they know value and they know a good bargain when they see one. You never know. If that's the case I'm on the right track because I love me some Ross. How can you resist $4.99 shirts?

I know if I ever hit the lottery, I will not stop shopping for bargains. I just won't have to do it ALL the time, which would be very nice. And it would mean I could buy the great $4.99 shirt in ALL the colors it comes in, LOL.
We don't have a Ross. I've never even seen one. This makes me sad. I know I *would* love a 4.99 shirt. :(
Oh no - we get 'em here in Santa Barbara. Bentleys for picking the kids up for soccer practice, Ross, the shopping...watch me roll my eyes.
I heart Ross, though.
Many of the rich got there because they spent wisely, saved wisely and invested wisely. From Forbes: Warren Buffett--with a net worth of $36 billion--famously lives in the same home in Omaha, Nebr., that he bought in 1958 for $31,500. Although his home isn't shabby, the Happy Hollow neighborhood where he lives isn't even the ritziest in Omaha.
I'd like to think this is what is happening in your picture, but the more likelihood is that we have someone trying to live beyond their means. Many people in South Florida put on a front and try to give others the illusion that they are rich by leasing expensive cars and somewhat affordable (based on your view) prices.
Personally, I'll always love the BOGO.
Please to note that while they are enjoying their frugal side, they have not abandoned their arrogant center-of-the-universe attitude of deserving to park at the door blocking the firelane and impeding all other customers.
If I win the lotto, I want a driver as my splurge.
I never heard of Ross..but I agree I LOVE a deal. I love shopping the clearance rack cause I don't care if I'm a year behind in fashion :-)
Umm...so that is what a Bently looks like. I thought it was a blue haired Buick.
If the fabulously Florida rich are anything like the fabulous rich in Montecito, I'd skip Ross and head straight to a consignment or thrift store - neither of which has any appeal to me in the polyster and catalogue couture culture of the Midwest. But here? Who can resist an Elie Tahari jacket for $6.99? Yah. That was on Saturday. An Alberto Fabiani camisole for %2.99?
Sigh. I LOVE rich, recycling people. They should give tours of our pick-a-piece-of-fine used clothing boutiques.
woo hoo $4.99 shirts kick major butt!!!! I love shopping at Ross it is the only place that I can find jeans that actually look good!
lol how funny a BENTLEY parked in front of ROSS. I'm imagining that the people from that car are tighter than tight with money and are prob less of a joy to be amongst.
So my dad died last January. He was pretty comfortable - not medallion-shoe-concubine rich, but get-an-estate-lawyer comfortable. I was helping my mother fill out the forms the estate lawyer sent and one of the questions asked for a list of "significant jewelry and furs". I scribbled in the space that my mom and I laughed at the question because we'd just been talking about the shoes she was wearing that she bought at Wal-Mart. In every color.
Wow. A Bentley at Ross. So odd.
I do love the bargain shopping. I learned very recently, however, that I don't love it nearly as well as my mother does. She may not look like a gladiator, but believe me, if gladiators competed at TJ Maxx instead of the lion-filled arena, my mom would win. Quite handily.
My graduate economics professor always said that the secret to being rich was... "spend less than you make."
So profound. What a great secret! ;-)
A Lamborghini parks daily in front of a plaza near my neighborhood.
Medallion shoe update:
I just saw those at my local midwestern Macy's...for $34.99.
Guess they won't be in fashion for the superrich now that we peasants can buy them!
I've solved it. Mistress of owner of Bentley is cutting back on her purchases in order to finance her next surgery. Seems smart to me. Bentley owner is purchasing Viagra while she shops. Saves gas that way.
In Scotland, we have a FANTASTIC place in the west end of Glasgow called Byers Road that has 2nd-hand shops, 'vintage' clothing shops and wee antique markets.....I love going shopping there as you can get really funky clothes for a couple of pounds.
Seriously, if you ever visit Glasgow, I'd take a wee visit...it's a fun way to spend a Saturday afternoon.
Lol....love the picture, and I'm not trying to drum up tourism for Scotland...honest...lol.

Once I saw a Maybach in the drive-thru at McDonalds. I got a kick out of that one. Oh, and this was in a suburb of Memphis, TN.
The fabulously rich in Seattle are a whole different kind of animal. Most are Geeks from Microsoft land or the dotcom era so they drive their Bentley or Lamborghini to Ross or even Walmart. :-)
