I know your husband is very sick, and we understand that...we can wait for you...but please let us know how you are...If we cant have daily updates, let us read the past, and enjoy them, until you and your husband are ok.

We will miss you..please dont quit, just take a "break" but dont leave us hanging.

Heather

sorry about my first post. You scared the crap out of me.

I have been reading and enjoying your writing for a while... gotta admit that sometimes it is the bright spot in a long and dull and sometimes frustrating day.

I hope that you will not quit writing altogether (you have a talent!) or delete this blog...

But, you know, do whatever is best for YOU and those that you love.

I wish you all of the best.

Hugs and prayers!

What happened? All the old posts are gone? What did I miss?

It makes me sad to see you are quitting. Your writing speaks to me and I enjoyed reading your blog. I hope this is to spend time with your husband and work on your book, not because of sad circumstances. If you are going through rough times, your readers would be happy to get you through them.

I hope you are okay and send you good thoughts and wishes. You are a very talented person and I'm sure whatever happens you'll end up in a better situation where you'll be properly appreciated. But man will I miss this blog. --Recent reader.

Quitting the blog? Oh, no, please!

Take a break, keep us updated on the hubby!

Oh no - what are you quitting? Your job? The blog?

Hope things are okay with you and your husband.

OMG! I am so sorry for whatever your are going through-and I know you need your privacy now-so I hope all is well and that you feel that you can return and create more wonderful stories and generously share them once again.

I hope no one "found you out" either-that is the only thing I can think of for why you quit-if that is the case, then F-them. And be strong.

I'm so sad to see you're gone. please don't quit. I don't know what I've missed over the weekend ...?

Six months' reader here, you've made me smile when almost all else in my life is dark. I'll miss your writing and humor, and if you change your mind and put this blog back up, I'll be overjoyed... but don't feel you *must* do this to please your readers. Your real life comes first, when all's said and done. Just remember that you have friends out here, should you need us. Take care.

*salutes*

are you quitting your job and your blog? i always read your blog...i'll miss it!

more importantly, i hope all is well with you and your husband.

please keep us posted about your book! or maybe someday make a blog just about your own life?

Anonymous said...

I had only just begun to read your blog, but I will feel the loss if you do delete it. Please restore the previus posts and leave it up, if you need to take a break.

Anonymous said...

I'm so sorry to hear you are quitting.
I hope it's because you got a great book deal.
This has also been sometimes the lone bright spot in a dark day for me, too.
I've laughed out loud at so much... at work, where it makes me look like a dork.
Best wishes. I hope you can come back!!

I have never left a comment before, but you do what you feel you need to do. I love your writing and know that you will be posting somewhere in some other fashion soon. Do what you need to do for yourself, family or even work if that is what is causing this and know that there is a loyal fan base out there waiting for you.

As a faithful reader, I can only say that I'm distraught and worried about the circumstances surrounding today's post. I'm praying for you and look forward to the day that you once more grace us with your insightful writings. Sincere thanks for all that you've given us over the years. Melanie

Oh my God! I've loved reading your posts and check it faithfully for an update, I was sad to read about your husband but please remember that all your readers really really do care, and we want to know you're okay.

What has happened? Are you quitting your job? Has someone been cruel to you, is your husband doing okay? Has your blog been found out?

We're all concerned.

I've been reading your blog a long time and enjoy your writing and fully planned to buy your book when it's published.

Hope you're okay....

Oh no! I am so sad, but if you have to stop blogging, you must have good reasons. Do what makes you happy. I will miss your posts soooo much though. I would be really sad to see such an amazing writer quit. You really brighten my day and make me laugh! I hope you'll leave your old posts up for a while because I've been trying to catch up and am still in 2006. You and your husband are in my thoughts and prayers. Please keep us posted!! We love you!

nandy said...

I suspect that someone exposed you...otherwise the archives would not have been removed, and earlier today, it would not have been an "invite only" blog.

If that's true, please do what you have to do to protect yourself, but do not stop writing. You have a real talent.

tazzie said...

Do what you need to do. Just remember that you'll be in our thoughts and prayers. We'll miss you. You have helped make me laugh when I've been down. And you've helped me see the good and the bad that money can't make go away.

I hope and pray that all goes well with you now, and forever more. Take care of yourself.

I'm not much of a commenter, but I just wanted to say that I hope all is well with you. Your writing is absolutely terrific, you have a knack for describing situations so I can "see" them perfectly, and they are always hysterical!

I'll miss your awesome sense of humor, thanks for all the giggles!

I hope you don't really leave us. We have never met, never spoken on the phone, never even exchanged an email, but I read your blog and would miss your writing in my life.
I hope you are not quitting for family rasons...you and your husband are in my thoughts.

I'll be praying for you and your husband. I love your blog and have enjoyed spending time in your world. I really hope that everything works out for you both, and that you find the strength to cope with all the stressfulness of this time. Please know that your faithful readers will keep checking back in hopes that you'll let us know that you and your husband are well.

Best wishes!

I went away to graduate(finally got the phd) and was away from the computer since Thursday/Friday. I feel like I missed something... what's going on?
And don't quit posting. You write well and this is one of the most entertaining blogs around because of the quality of the writing as much (if not more) than the content.

Zu said...

This is terrible, I will miss your blog very much. However you must do what is right for you and your husband. I hope you are both well. I hope no nasty creep has found you out. I can't wait to read your book someday. You have been a bright spot in my daily online life and I hope I get to read you again someday. Take care and keep writing. You are too talented to stop.

Evyl Fashionista said...

Oh no!!! I can honestly say that yours is the only blog I try to check on everyday. Over the past few months, you have helped me keep sane at my crazy job. Your writing has been such a joy to read, no matter what the topic. Even if you no longer post here, I truly hope that you continue your writing. You are very gifted and it would be a shame not to share it.

From what I can see from the other comments, your husband is unwell and I send out positive thoughts to both of you. If nothing else, please keep us updated on yourself and your husband.

I've enjoyed reading your posts. I'm sorry there won't be any more from Widelawns. And yet maybe you'll be happier elsewhere. (Goodness knows there will probably be less stress elsewhere.)

I hadn't read your blog for about two weeks, though, so I missed your late April and earlier in May posts.

If you have time, could you please fill us in?

Is there a special reason all of your posts except the "I've quit" one are gone? (I'm wondering if your identity was discovered and you were threatened!)

I hope you are safe and happy! God bless.

The last post I saw was last night before I went to bed.. I didn't see anything about her husband being sick... what's wrong with him? I hope it's nothing too serious.

I also suspect that the blog has been exposed which is the reason for the missing archives. It's a shame because those were some fantastic stories. :(

I gotta say I'm in shock. I accidently stumbled on your blog last summer and fell in love with your writing. I've got most of my co-workers hooked as well now. Instead of talking about what was on tv last night, we laugh about your blog. Please consider making everyday self indulgent saturday. Your writing is what makes it wonderful and that's what makes the blog amazing. Take care in all you do. Best of luck and hope to read something from you soon.

Please don't quit!! i agree with faithfeedsme. we would gladly wait, but if you must quit let us read the past and enjoy the humor. I hope your hubby is well soon.

I'm heartbroken about losing my link to someone else that experiences HOA insanity ... but I understand how hard this can be on a daily basis.

Although you are leaving this behind, please keep on writing -- you have a real talent for it, and I know -- I've read some lousy books lately. I need to read something good -- go forth and get published.

If you quit because of a book deal, then please let everyone know the title. I want to tell everyone I know what a talented writer you are.

I so enjoy your writing, and will miss it, but please just let us know if you and your husband are ok.I will be praying.

We'll all be waiting to stumble upon that book flap that tells us about the woman who got her start blogging about her job at wide lawns.

I wish (again) a speedy recovery for your husband....and many happy times for you in your next job. Thanks for some really gut-deep laughter.

I almost cried when I found the blog was gone. I hope you'll share your writing publicly again when the time is right for you. Will really miss this blog and hope that Wide Lawns is turned into a book someday. The writing is fantastic.

I LOVE YOU!!!!!!

Also - love and healing to your husband - is this why you're quitting? I so hope everything is allright.

SW, your posts have always been a highlight, but it is understandable that blogging does not come first. I'm thinking of you and your husband and sending him wishes for a speedy recovery. lottie xx

I don't comment. I love your blog but if this is some sort of stunt, I will feel sad. The power to vent is now free, and as you have discovered, many people will listen. That being said I feel this declaration makes a mockery of the rest of your blog. Quit the job but don't quit the blog, or quit the blog and continue on your way, with the job that gives you all the great stories.

I sincerely hope all is ok with you and your family. Thank you for all the joy you've spread. Thoughts and prayers to you and yours.

maybe she got a book deal and that's why she's pulled the archives?

I hope it's something like that and not a case of the dooce.

Sad to hear the news - I hope everything is well with your husband. It is sad to think you're stopping writing when clearly you're so good at it - I will miss my daily stop-by.

It has always only been a matter of time for the blog-- the more successful it was the more likely the ax would fall.

You will always find ridiculous things to skewer.

I do hope that the situation with your husband's health is resolving satisfactorily. Everything else you can fix yourself.

Taking a Break

Dear Readers, I'm sorry to say that I will be taking a break from blogging and will be out of the office for an unspecified time. My husband was very ill and in the hospital and it was the scariest thing that has ever happened to us. I just got him home and I am dedicating all of my time to his care and healing. Luckily, my truly amazing and generous employers are letting me take as much time off as I need (see, that's why I keep and love my job). Please say prayers for his easy and fast recovery. I promise I'll be back and writing as soon as he is all better, or until he makes me stop babying him so much. Thanks for your understanding.

I used to call my mom and read her your funny blogs, especially the one about "pee pee martinis". I hope everything is ok. I miss you, subservient no more! Wishing you much success at whatever you do. It was better to have read your blogs and have them removed than never to have laughed [until I cried] at all!

Anonymous said...

Nooooo!
I love your writing and stories. If this is for a book deal, please tell us. If it's for personal issues, I'm so sorry.

Please don't leave us SW.

Your stories have brought me many hours of joy.

I just found you a few months ago and had just finished reading all the archives.

I hope all is well with the SW family.

If you must go, thanks for the wonderful stories of South Florida and Basura.

I hope you are okay... your blog has brought me many many moments of laughter and joy. I really enjoy your writing and the glipse you gave into your world. You will be missed....and I hope you are okay.

Sparkling Cipher said...

SW, my thoughts are with you and your husband. I hope all works out and you find peace and happiness beyond this point.

I have greatly enjoyed your stories. I will miss them and the warmth and humor with which you told them.

Good luck.

Q said...

Nooooooo!!!! I just found you last week, and I had gotten up to May 2006 in the archives and now it's GONE!!!

[insert frowny face here]

Do you think you could leave the archives up? Please?

Though, I hope to hear more from you - you're an excellent writer and I will definitely be buying your book when it comes out.

SkippyMom said...

I am absolutely confused...I have read all of may and your resignation and your quitting and hubby being sick...

Where or Why did you delete your archives? What is going on?

I know it what you are going through is stressful [hooray for DQ] and I wish you the best...

but to delete your archives...what IS up with that? What IS going on?

I am glad all your faithful readers came through and gave you the ego stroke you needed to continue what is obviously very important to both you & them...

I truly wish you the best and hope that nothing in your life gets more stressful than what you are handling now as I am sure no one wants to see you truly disappear, especially not you.

Hang in there and our very, very best wishes to Hubby for a happy and safe recovery....
